Flower Care Guide
  • Fresh Flowers
  • Picture of a floral arrangement Flower Arrangements:  When you receive a flower arrangement always check the water level to make sure it is full.  Check the water level daily and add as necessary.  Display flowers out of direct sunlight and never near a hot item (TV's, computers etc.)  If moving them from one location to another always keep covered from freezing temperatures.

Picture of a rose Roses:  If you receive roses in a box re-cut them on an angle at least an inch up with a sharp knife.  Place them in a vase with a floral preservative.  Do not fill the vase so high that the leaves are in the water.  If you receive them in a vase re-cut them on an angle.  Change the water every other day to extend the life of the rose.  Never display them in a sunny area and always keep away from hot items (TV's, computers, etc.).  Detailed Care Information
  • Green and Blooming Plants
  • Picture of an azalea Azalea:  Available year round.  Moderate light is preferred for this plant; never place in direct sunlight.  They like moist soil; never let it dry out but also remember not to let it sit in water.  Cool temperatures will help this plant bloom for a longer time.  Misting the blooms with water will also help them open and not dry out.

Picture of a bulb plant (tulip) Bulb Plants:  This spring plant is available from about late February to late April.  A great plant if you want to have something that comes back every year.  They like moist soil but never over water which can cause root rot.  They like to have cool temperatures.  After flowers and leaves are no longer green cut them off and plant the bulb in a sunny area with well drained soil and they will bloom every year.

Picture of a cactus Cacti and Succulents:  Year round plants and very easy to take care of.  The main item for these plants is bright sunlight.  They prefer dry soil, especially in the winter.  Water very infrequently.

Picture of a cyclamen Cyclamen:  An indoor plant that is available almost year round.  Moderate sunlight is preferred.  Moist soil is ideal for this plant always drain any excess water out.

Picture of an Easter Lily Easter lilies:  A very fragrant indoor plant available only around Easter.  Moist soil is preferred always remembering to never over water.  Cool temperatures will allow the plant to keep its bloom longer.  Remove the yellow anthers after the bloom has opened because they will stain.  After flower and leaves are no longer green cut them off and you can replant outdoors in a sunny area with well drained soil and it will rebloom the next year.

Picture of a green plant Green plant and dish gardens:  Moderate light is preferred for green plants.  Moist soil if preferred but always remember to never over water or let stand in water.  This will cause plants to rot.  Most green plants like to be in tight containers; moving them to bigger containers too soon will cause them to wilt and die.

Picture of a kalanchoe Kalanchoe:  A great indoor plant available almost year round.  They like to have bright sunlight but a wide range of light will be tolerated.  Soil can be maintained on the dry side never letting them sit in water.  After the blooms have dried up cut them off and it will rebloom with good sunlight and care.

Picture of a mum Mum plants:  Another great indoor plant available year round.  Bright sunlight is good for a plant in bud stage when the flower is open.  Moderate sunlight will extend the life of the flower.  Moderately moist soil is preferred always draining off excess water.

Picture of a poinsettia Poinsettia:  A very seasonal plant available between Mid November and Late December.  A very good indoor plant when taken care of properly.  They prefer an average to warm climate; never store below 60 degrees.  They like moderate to bright sunlight.  Do not over water which can cause root rot; they like moist to dry soil.  Poinsettias are not poisonous.  Detailed Care Information
